Classes, Disciple Classes, and various other activities.

or by e-mail.
Our Adult Ministry includes a number of
programs for all adults. Bible study, which provides knowledge, understanding and
application, is the foundation of our ministry. A description of each of
our seven current classes follows:
The
Herbert-Way-Arms Class
Over
the years, three of the oldest classes (The Thomas Herbert Class,
the Aurie Way Class and the Daisy Arms Class) have
joined together to form the combined Herbert-Way-Arms class.
This group of adults, age 50 and up, uses both the “Adult Bible
Studies” series and the “International Lessons” series.
Several different members teach, with a lesson plan followed by
open discussion.
The class has fun and enjoys getting together for class parties.
They meet in the Barton wing, Room 117, next to the
chapel.

The Seekers Class
The Seekers
class is "the Sunday School class for people who usually don't like
to go to Sunday School" and are seeking an alternative to rigidly
structured lesson plans. The Seekers offers adults of all ages the
opportunity to discuss a wide range of contemporary and traditional
Christian issues in a comfortable, accepting atmosphere. The common
thread among class members is a belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ and
a desire to discuss (and maybe even disagree with) topics relating to
our basic Christian beliefs (The Case for Christ, The Case for Faith),
our denomination's precepts and how we live them, concerns about our
community, concerns about our kids, how we see and interact with each
other and regular Bible-based lessons ( the Books of Romans, Ephesians,
Galatians, Ruth, Esther). Outside activities include weekend retreats
and "adopting" families at Christmas and Thanksgiving, plus
purely social events throughout the year. They meet upstairs in the education building. Turn
right at the top of the stairs and you’ll find them in the first room
on the right.

The Joe
Taylor Class
If you’ve ever stopped by
the library before Sunday School, then you’ve probably met some of the
members of the Joe Taylor class. They’re the ones serving coffee and
doughnuts every Sunday! Class members are mostly in their 40’s and 50’s
(and "getting older"). Teachers rotate weekly, and refer to
the lesson outlines in the quarterly "Adult Bible Studies"
series. The class also enjoys various social outings together. They meet
in room 113 in the Barton Wing. This class was previously known as the
Charlie McCann Class. Click on

The
Faith
Builders Class
This
class, whose members are age 50 and up, rotate leading the lessons from
the International Adult Bible Studies series. The class has great open
discussions about the lessons and everyone's opinion is valued and
respected. Outside of class, the group enjoys social activities such as
Christmas parties and picnics. They financially support needs and
programs within the church and are supportive of the members during
illness and emergencies. This class was previously named
The
Harris DuBois Class. They meet in the Barton wing,
Room 115. Click on the above thumbnail for a larger view.

The Genesis Class
This
is a fun-loving class whose members range from the thirties and
up. The class uses group discussion format and alternates
between study of Biblical life application and topical,
contemporary issues. Class leadership is on a rotating basis and
is done mainly by moderating discussion. Outside of class, the
group enjoys campouts, cookouts, local sporting events, and
serving together at the Gathering and mission projects. In
addition, the Genesis class supports missions within the church
and "community through its gifts and service. The class
meets upstairs in the education wing at the end of the hall. Turn
right at the top of the stairs and you’ll find them in the room at the
end of the hall. Click on the above thumbnail for a larger view.

The Crusaders Class
The Crusaders
class is composed of singles and couples who range in age from upper
thirties through fifty-something who are committed to supporting one
another through prayer, love, and laughter. Weekly fellowship includes a
constantly updated prayer list of personal concerns and lively
discussions of the Bible. The class holds monthly collections of goods
and money for charities identified by class members, such as ECCO,
Windwood Farm, the Ronald McDonald House, and local schools. Members
also meet quarterly for social fellowship, such as dinner out or
Putt-Putt. The class meets upstairs at the top of the stairs and to the
left. Click on the above thumbnail for a larger view.

The Revelations Class A
relatively new class with many members whom are newlyweds, new parents, or new members. This group has a fun time worshipping and studying topics related to their lives and interests. They have a lot to share with each other as they seek to grow their faith and biblical knowledge. Adults of all ages are welcome. So for a fun and casual approach to Sunday School, they invite you to give them a look!. |

Hibben conducts Disciple
classes each year. Each of the classes offers a disciplined, challenging and very
rewarding journey into the Biblical texts. It is for those members who are serious about
Bible study and are curious about what the Bible really says.
The Disciple I class is a survey of the whole
Bible from Genesis through Revelation and will begin in January. A sign-up form has been
placed in the church office.
The Disciple II class, for those who have
completed Disciple I, focuses on in-depth study of Genesis/Exodus and Luke/Acts.
Interested
participants need to contact the church office for additional
information.

Primetimers
(formerly FAO) plans
exciting activities for adults of all ages that take advantage of South Carolina's
abounding attractions, including progressive dinners, luncheons, community events,
day-trips, and week-end trips.
The
Primetimers are
now meeting at Hibben in the
CL&LC for lunch and often a program or other activity on the 3rd
Tuesday of each month. Some lunches
will be covered dish, some will be catered, some will not. Programs will
vary depending on who and what we can schedule. At the very least,
Primetimers will get together for fellowship and to catch up on the latest
news around Hibben. Watch your bulletins, eNewsletter and newsletter for news about each
month’s program.
