Children are a special part of the
ministry at Hibben. Our Children's Ministry includes a number of programs for all children
starting at 0 years and going through the 6th grade. Bible study, which provides
knowledge, understanding and application, is the foundation of our ministry. Our Wednesday
afternoon program provides fellowship to foster openness, trust, and sharing.
This page contains current information on all
issues concerning children at Hibben including Sunday School, Wednesday Children's Program,
Children's Church, Special Events and any Notices to parents.

Confirmation
Class
This class is held annually
to help young persons, ages 12 (6th grade) and over, to understand and affirm their faith.
It lasts each year from August through May. This class
takes the place of 6th grade Sunday School.
...and,
it’s that time again!
We are currently registering any youth, rising 6th
graders or older, who have not been through Confirmation yet. You will need to call the church office in order to sign up. It is necessary for you to reserve your spot so we can begin to make plans for the up-coming year. If you have any questions, please see Rev. Kyle or Jennifer Roberts. |

Wednesday Children's Program
A children's ministry held Wednesday evenings from
4:30-6:00 PM for children 4 years of age through 6th grade. This is a
fun Christian based outreach; the material varies depending on the age
of the class. This program is designed to build a closer relationship
with the children through love, prayer and fun.
The material used by
the teachers is a hands-on Bible curriculum consisting of the following:
FaithWeaver Friends" for ages 4 - grade 4 will experience Biblical themes in games, music, crafts and projects. "Grapple" for Grades 5 & 6 – a Bible study dealing with making choices and building relationships. |

Children's Mission Project
Each fall, Hibben has a
children’s mission. This year's mission is again entitled Operation Christmas Child. This
is a shoe box mission for the entire congregation that
sends a message of hope
to children in desperate situations around the world through
gift-filled shoe boxes and Christian literature. The
children will be challenging the Hibben
congregation to make this year the largest number of boxes ever
collected.
For additional
information on Operation Christmas Child including details on
how to pack a "shoe box" as well as a video about the
project, click

Children's Church
Children's Church is a special
time for children ages 4 through 2nd grade where they have their own time of learning how
to worship through fun hands-on Christian based material. With the exception of Communion Sunday, the children
are invited to go to Children's Church after the "Children's
Moment" at the 10:30 worship
service. They return from Children's Church to their families in the Sanctuary
just prior to the
"Benediction".
Jr. Children’s Church
Jr. Children's Church
is for children in 3rd through 5th grade. It is held during the
10:30 worship service. The children learn about worship, the
Seasons of the church, and Methodism. This program is designed to
further their understanding of worship and prepares them for
Confirmation class. They
recently gave themselves a name
that better describes what they are doing each Sunday. They came
up with "Explorers of the Bible" or
"Explorers" for short

Nursery
Nursery is provided for every
church sponsored event and most children's events. Our staff of loving adult care
givers are all CPR trained for infants. They are assisted by responsible adults and youth
volunteers. Beepers are available to parents using the nursery in case they need to
be contacted. Each child is signed in and released only to their parents or guardian.
Nursery includes our T.I.F. group - Toddlers in Fellowship (0 - 3 years
of age),

Spring
Play
Children ages 4
years old through 6th grades participate in this annual event.
The
children’s choir held their 2006 spring musical “Who
is Like the Lord” . . . a praise musical with lots of
fun music. Join Gary, Max, Jake, Sabrina and Molly and their
history teacher at Main Street School, where together they learn
how unique they are in God’s eyes, what worship is all about,
and how they can make a difference in the world - even as kids.
All children 4 years – 6th grade are welcome to join in the fun.

Vacation
Bible School
Each summer, Hibben holds a
week long Vacation Bible School (VBS) for ages 3 years through 5th grade. Each day of VBS
is filled with songs, stories, crafts, food and fun as the children get to know more about
God and his love. Hibben's VBS is open to the community.
VBS
2007 at Hibben was jumping with excitement. Avalanche Ranch VBS was held June 18-22, 9am-noon. This VBS had a ranch theme and was offered to children from age 3 through those that have completed 5th grade. This VBS was unique in that it mixed multi-age children. Preschoolers ages 3-5 had their own program, but then children kindergarten through 5th grade were together – split into “crews” of 5 children each. Each day, four crews traveled around to-gether to different stations, like Chuck Wagon Chow, Cowpoke Crafts, Wild Bible Adventures, Horseplay Games, and Wild West Theater. The days started and ended with all kids (including preschoolers) together in the Sing and Play Stampede and the Showtime Roundup. Makes you want to saddle up a horse and hit the trail, doesn't it??
Get your
parents to register you
next year by picking up
a registration form at the church. For more information, contact the church office
at 884-9761.
