Kathryn is an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church. Her formal education includes a BA in Biology from Charlotte University and a Masters of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.

After a twenty year career as a Medical Technologist, Kathryn entered the ministry in 1995. Since that time she has served churches and has also served as Interim Chaplain at Columbia College. Kathryn is a member of the S.C. Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and the Charleston District Committee on Ordained Ministry. She serves as the Co-director of the Conference Board's Residency Program. Kathryn is also the Vice-Chairman of the United Methodist Relief Center Board of Directors.

Kathryn and Jim have been married for thirty-six years and are the parents of two grown daughters. Their daughter, Erin Steed, her husband, Chris, and their two children, Sarah and JT, live in Spartanburg. Daughter, Cammie Egan, her husband Joey and daughter, Maya, live in Charlotte, NC.

Jim, an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, is a native of western North Carolina where he attended public schools in Asheville and Charlotte. His undergraduate studies where completed at Montreat College and Charlotte University. He holds a Masters of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Erskine Theological Seminary.

After a brief career as a manager in the transportation industry, Jim entered the ministry in 1983. He has served churches in the upstate, the Pee Dee region and the midlands of South Carolina. For nine years he was the pastor at Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia.

Jim has served on several Conference and District boards and committees, most recently as chair of the Conference Commission on Equitable Compensation and the Conference Committee on Congregational Development. He presently serves as a mentor for the Residency program of the Board of Ordained Ministry and Board member of the SC Annual Conference Board of Camps and Retreats.

Kathryn and Jim were married in 1973. Their immediate family consists of two grown daughters, two sons-in-law and three grandchildren that Granddaddy and Memommy spend as much time with as possible.
