REV. JAMES C. HUNTER

Jim, an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, is a native of western North Carolina where he attended public schools in Asheville and Charlotte.  His undergraduate studies where completed at Montreat College and Charlotte University.  He holds a Masters of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Erskine Theological Seminary.

After a brief career as a manager in the transportation industry, Jim entered the ministry in 1983.  He has served churches in the upstate, the Pee Dee region and the midlands of South Carolina.  For nine years he was the pastor at Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia. 

Jim has served on several Conference and District boards and committees, most recently as chair of the Conference Commission on Equitable Compensation and the Conference Committee on Congregational Development.  He presently serves as a mentor for the Residency program of the Board of Ordained Ministry.

Kathryn and Jim were married in 1973.  Their immediate family consists of two wonderful grown daughters, two spectacular sons-in-law, and a legendary grand daughter that Grand Daddy and Grand Momma spend as much time with as possible.
