Hibben
United Methodist Church is located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina across the Cooper River
from historic Charleston. Hibben's program of ministry strives to meet the spiritual,
physical and social needs of the many different age levels which make up our congregation.
In addition to worship services, Christian Education is provided to help our congregation
gain further understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Our Christian Life and Learning Center provides necessary
facilities to encourage and promote
Christian fellowship within and beyond our congregation and to provide
outreach to the community by sponsoring and housing a variety of
meaningful programs. Being
located in a fast growing community, Hibben is in a strategic location for vibrant ministry and outreach now and into the future.

Hibben is a Safe Sanctuary congregation. We are in the process of implementing our polices and procedures to safeguard all children and youth from abuse. All staff an adult leaders in children's and youth ministries must be screened including reference and criminal background checks. Our full policy will be available on this website as soon as it is completed. |

Hibben has made a
commitment to remove all barriers to worship and church
programs. Five handicapped parking spaces are available in the
front parking lot and four additional spaces are available for
the Christian Life and Learning Center (CL&LC). In addition, curb
side ramps are provided at the front church entrance, at all
CL&LC entrances, and a handicap chair lift for full accessibility
is provided at the rear entrance to the Educational building
(under the Porte Cochere). There
are handicapped equipped bathrooms adjacent to the sanctuary and
in the CL&LC. See Campus
layout.
Hibben also provides an Assistive Listening System
(ALS) for hearing impaired members of the congregation. This system supplements our
existing sound systems to provide clear and intelligible audio to those who need help in
hearing. Being a FM wireless system, hearing impaired members may sit anywhere they choose
within the sanctuary or the CL&LC. For those members or visitors who need help in hearing, ask the
ushers for a wireless receiver and earphone.

| Nursery is provided
for every church sponsored event and most children's events.
Our staff of loving adult care givers are all CPR trained for
infants. They are assisted by responsible adults and youth
volunteers. Beepers are available to parents using the
nursery in case they need to be contacted. Each child is signed
in and released only to their parents or guardian.
Hibben also provides a room within close
proximity to the sanctuary where members and visitors may take their small children during
the worship service if the need arises. The "Cry Room" (which
also serves as a conference room on weekdays) is equipped with a high
quality speaker system with a level control which is connected to the sanctuarys
sound system. Ushers will direct you to the room upon your request.

One of the greatest gifts we receive is to have a relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ. In this relationship we have available to us direct communication to God through in prayer. A powerful way to support one another as a church family, as friends, neighbors, co-workers, fellow believers, and as a nation, is through intercessory prayer.
Intercessory prayer is going to God on behalf of someone else, in response to our care and concern for each other. At Hibben Church we print our intercessory prayer list each week in the worship bulletin. You may request prayer by filling out a request slip on Sunday or call/email the church office. |

UMC.org,
the official online ministry of The United Methodist Church,
provides profiles of United Methodists, reviews on recently
released books, reviews of a current film in wide release and
reviews of recently released albums of various genres.
Profiles - Monthly, audio faith stories that highlight United Methodists with unique perspectives on subjects that are of interest to the denomination.
Movie Reviews - Twice-a-month, UMC.org reviews a current film in wide release. Films are viewed through a spiritual lens, as opposed to focusing on the art form itself; they are assessed for their spiritual and social elements.
Book Reviews - Once a month, UMC.org publishes a critical review of a recently released book of fiction or non-fiction.
Music Reviews - Twice a month, UMC.org publishes a critical review of three recently released albums of various genres. You can even listen to select tracks on-line.
The above reviews and profiles are part of the United Methodist Church's new web site feature entitled
"My Spiritual
Journey". This page also includes audio sermons featuring leading United Methodist pastors.
