The Outreach Committee at Hibben is responsible for reaching out into the community and joyfully receiving any person who desires to join our family of believers. We strive to make visitors feel welcome and to help new members to become an active part of our church body. Below is a partial listing of the Outreach activities which Hibben supports:

Visitation

All visitors to Hibben's Sunday morning worship services are asked to fill out a visitor card and to wear a name tag. This allows the congregation to greet the visitors and also gives the church a name and address. Two members of the church pay a very casual call on the visitors of that day, welcoming them to Hibben and providing them with a brief description of some of our major programs. The members also provide the visitors with their names and telephone numbers for any future questions the visitors may have. The number of times a person attends Hibben is recorded by the church office and those figures are made available to Sunday School classes so that they may also contact the visitors.

First Friends

Anyone who becomes a member of Hibben is matched with a Hibben member who becomes their "First Friend". First Friends stand up with the new members when they join the church, host them at a quarterly church-wide covered dish meal and help them to learn more about Hibben's various programs.

New Member Bulletin Board

Photographs of all new members are displayed on the New Member Bulletin Board to help current members to recognize those just joining us.

New Member Classes

Four consecutive weekly classes are held twice a year during the Sunday School hour covering the history of Methodism, the Sacraments, and the various committees and programs at Hibben.
